On Saturday 2nd November, Romford Ladies 1 met Waltham Forest 2 for the return game.
With support from Franki and Jess, Romford went in a 4-3-3 formation from the start.
The first half started off strong with short passes (from the push back) from the forwards surprising Watham Forest with a very early short corner to defend! Unfortunately, this wasn’t converted to a goal but the momentum was there and built. Shortly after, Romford put some more pressure on Watham Forest’s defence resulting in a pass across the goal (from Franki) to a waiting Katie to make the score 1-0.
Romford’s keeper, defence and midfield worked tirelessly to clear the ball and support the forwards, especially player of the match Loz.
A second goal came from Romford around the 20min mark. This was created by Sonata feeding the ball to Emma who then took on the keeper.
Half time finished 2-1 with the team talk focusing on some of the our pre match objectives. It was during this half, Romford’s defence see a strong hit from the top of the D (a short corner) resulting in a goal and the final score being 2-2.
Key takeaways from post match team talk was;
* keep up the momentum till the final whistle.
*Pass to our team/players.
*Decision making (to be improved).
*Use the baseline training.
