Todays game was a tough game for all of our players, however every single person put their all in until the end of the game.
We started out with a strong start having a lot of the possession however struggling to get any connections up high with the ball. Sonata and Abbie S were making some lovely leads up the wings to get it inside of the D but they overloaded the defence making it very difficult. Kim, Sarah and Ellen were switching positions up front trying to help get an outcome from our attacking possession.
Into about 2/3’s of the first half unfortunately we had allowed some man marking to slip and Southend managed to get their first goal. We didn’t let this affect our game and we’re still playing on the attack as often as we could until the end of the first half.
By this point Loz and Katie had run themselves ragged so could replenish themselves at half time so they could do it all again in the second half.
In the second half Southend wanted to start off strong but so did we with more possession for us at the start of this half, Abbie S and Abbie L making lots of connections together in great spacing up the right wing.
Some great pairs in this half with Caroline and Nat covering the back half well and backing each other up.
Even with our good attacking breaks Southend were giving a lot back and ended up with a break and managed to score their second goal.
Lisa made some good passes out when Southend made some good passes into our D past our defence passing it out wide to give us time to set up to defend again.
Unfortunately even with a few short corner opportunities we didn’t manage to get any outcomes from our attacks and the goal line was left at 2-0.
But Romford walked off with a chat with Coach knowing we all tried very hard and have things we want to work on moving forwards
Big Thanks to Ellen, Sarah, Caroline and Kim for helping us out today!
And Well Done to our wonderful captain Katie on getting MoM!!!
