Womens 1st XI vs Chelmsford 4

Today's match against Chelmsford was probably the best hockey we've played so far in the season. While remaining humble in our position in the table we knew that any team we face in the league would prove to be a test of some sort. From the first whistle, our goal was to be on the attack consistently. We probably had about 80% possession overall. Chelmsford had minimal chances in the first and second half but did cause us problems in the midfield at times where they overloaded. Romford had many chances in the first half, that we were unable to convert, we ended the first half 0-0. Chelmsford were firmly parked in there final 1/3..

After a quick team talk, reminding us to do the basics well, we got back into the swing of things. There was great distribution from our defenders, Natalie, Grace & Kim to our Midfielders, Abbie Sharman and Abbie Lagden who in turn both fed our forward line, Sonata, Elhana and Kemi. This resulted in us managing to score 2 really quick successive goals. Sonata set things running, getting the first goal after 2 minutes, then ehlana quickly following pursuit with producing our second goal only a minute after, with a great through ball from Sonata. Ehlana added another goal to the teamsheet, with a swift move from an interception from Katie, who fed Kemi lifting the ball over to Ehlana in the D. Kemi got the 4th goal after a lot of immense pressure, with Lorraine, both Abbie's and Katie, putting Chelmsford under pressure, forcing them to make a mistake. Lastly Katie got the 5th and final lgoal after following up from a short corner. Overall a great result, great win and onto the next!
