Womens 1st XI vs Witham 1

Romford started extremely well with Kemi getting a goal in under a minute (14 seconds to be exact) after some nice interplay between the front 3. Romford were sustaining pressure for majority of the first half. Interceptions as well as communication between the whole team was key to winning the match. The second goal came from some nice play down the right side and we got a short corner. With a first time strike, Lorraine gave us a 2-0 advantage. Shortly after, after kemi had intercepted a pass near the oppositions goal, she crossed it in, as it got deflected, Katie had awareness and reacted while the ball was still in the air and we scored once again. It’s still notable to make notice to Witham’s pressure as their counterattacks were very dangerous. We spoke about not getting complacent and we still needed to be strong when defending.  We took all the positives with us into the 2nd half and we managed to score once again. Romford did well getting the ball into the box. After a good save from the goalie, Sonata got the ball and found kemi near the post who manage to get it in before any opposition clear it away. Witham were still sustaining a lot of pressure and the counter attacks were coming consistently, unfortunately, Romford gave the ball away and it ended up in us conceding one. Romford managed to control especially the end of the game and suppressed Witham’s attack to keep the score at 4-1. Great game overall.
