Womens 1st XI vs Southend 2

A great game where everyone worked hard and together gelling very well.

We seem to be back to our usual flow of games at the moment.

This game started with a lot of possession on our behalf with some great runs from Kemi working in triangles together with Ehlana

Unfortunately there was no outcomes from our tries to get into their D

We had a couple of great 1 on 1s with Lisa brilliantly saving them

Loz and Katie running so much and pushing a little higher than normal leading on from last weeks game which kept us very much in the game

Then Nat got the ball in our defensive quarter and starting pushing up with the ball. Taking it past a few players and just kept running. Getting into their 25 pinging the ball to Ellen who swiped it straight into the goal with force with 5 minutes left of the first half. A great assist and goal from Ellen who helped us out today.

Back at it from half time we set off holding our positions and working towards getting more outcomes which certainly came we managed to get a few short corners unfortunately the opposition were not allowing our shorts that we have practiced down with the slips not being on as easy.

As we continued pushing with Abbie S was making some brilliant runs with some triangles with Ellen into the left side with the help of some balls from Steph/Nat

Kim and Abbie S had some lovely touches on the ball

However there were not many oppurtunities or time left of this half

We did let the ball come a lot lower on our end with a lot of through balls from their 16 pushing past everyone with a quick runner running onto them

So the last 5 minutes were mostly us trying to keep possession and keep it out of our 23
