Womens 1st XI vs Crostyx 2

Romford went to Crostyx with the hope of putting the previous two losses behind them.

We knew it would be a tough game but our spirits were high as coach delivered his pre-match speech.

The game started well with there being some good play right across the field. We were intercepting well and keeping the width which provided us with a strong start.

The defence of Nat, Steph and Grace was well organised and made sure that keeper Lisa was well protected.

With no goals from either side at half time, it was a positive start.

With some great wide play from both Abbie S and Abbie L, the attacking team of Sonata, Ellie and Kemi kept the pressure on the Crostyx defence and were soon rewarded with a short corner which captain Katie was unfortunate to not put away.

Crostyx broke the deadlock midway through the second half with an mis-hit shot that took everyone on the field by surprise.

Romford soon attacked back and, despite several attacking advantages being thwarted by the umpires whistle, they were soon able to upgrade their attacks to additional short corners. One of these saw a slip from MOM Loz to Sonata who was able to slot the ball home to bring the score back level.

Despite both sides continuing to try and take home the three points, the score remained level.
