Romford Came out convincing winners hitting 5 past Waltham Forest.
Sonata Beach opened the scoring after 10 minutes, striking home, following good work from Leah Woodman, who dribbled past several Forest Players before finding Beach with a reverse sweep into the D.
Romford doubled their lead shortly afterwards when Kemi Olofinjana went on a strong run before finding Ehlana Woods at the top of the D. Ehlana sweeping strike into the roof of the net gave the Forest Keeper little chance.
Kemi’s strength on the ball caused Forest problems, and having already set up a goal she got on the scoresheet herself with a quick double, both assisted by Sonata Beach, to give Romford a convincing 4-0 half time lead.
Romford dominated the second half with Beach causing the Forest Defence problems with her direct runs, striking the post on one occasion.
The forest Keeper performed well to keep out Lorraine Curtis’s short corner strikes, but was eventually beaten when short Corner pusher, Katie Williams, ventured in to the near post to pick up a rebound off of the keepers pads.
It didn’t go all Romford’s way with Forest mounting several attacks. But they were met by a strong Romford defence with Lorraine Curtis, Steph Allen and Grace Pickford, remaining resolute in the Romford back-line.
Having scored a fifth early in the second halve, many were expecting an avalanche of goals to follow, but Forest’s tough stance was enough to stop the flow.
A good win for Romford Ladies.
